What counts

What you must register per country

Every piece of packaging counts, including the shipping box and the filling material. Per country you report the kilos per material. The categories differ per body, so Packquota converts your kilos into the categories of Verpact, Fost Plus and LUCID.

Six material groups

Paper and cardboard

Shipping boxes, product boxes, paper filling and labels.

Plastic

Film, air cushions, mailing bags, tape and plastic product packaging.

Glass

Jars, bottles and glass packaging for your products.

Metal

Cans, aluminium trays, caps and closures. Aluminium and steel count separately.

Wood

Pallets, crates and wooden packaging.

Beverage cartons and composites

Packaging made of several materials, such as beverage cartons and pouches with an aluminium layer.

The same box, three classifications

A shipping box with tape and air cushions is the same in every country, but each body classifies it differently. This is the core of what Packquota solves for you.

Weights: weigh, don't estimate

All three bodies want the actual weight per material. Germany explicitly does not allow estimates and asks for evidence: a supplier specification or your own weighing. Packquota therefore works with packaging sets: you weigh a box, a piece of tape and a handful of filling material once, and every shipment then counts automatically with those weights. We keep the evidence in your file.

What does not count

  • Reusable packaging that circulates in an existing system (for example deposit crates); you report it, but you do not pay for it.
  • In the Netherlands: logistics aids such as pallets and pallet covers do not count towards the 50,000 kg threshold.
  • In Belgium: shipping boxes to businesses fall under Valipac, not Fost Plus.
  • In Germany: packaging that demonstrably does not end up with a German end user.
